"Paul N Temple" <Paul N Temple@discussions.microsoft.com> End task , reboot and restart WinMail would be the first thing to try.

Thanks. I guess I should have said more. I have been a tech for 27 years. I did all the standard stuff. I also removed everything in the mail directory and restarted Winmail.exe. It recreated the stuff it needed but still no UI. I haven't created another user account yet to test HKCU corruption. I guess I'll do that next."DGuess" wrote:

My guess its a 3rd party program screwing stuff up. Disable antivirus and another such programs. Also look in Event Viewer for ESENT errors. If your message store database is screwed up with permissions you'll get an error 5 (access denied), which means you'll have to take ownership of the message store directory and then reset the permissions. But you should get some sort of error message with nonsense like you don't have enough disk space or memory, so I'd guess door #1, its a 3rd party program.steve"Paul N Temple"

Doesn't sound too good. Has it ever worked? Might check a restore point where it was working if so.Times like these I wished they had uninstalls. Be easier to blow it opff, remove the reg entries then reinstall."Paul N Temple"

This happened to me earlier today. What fixed it is to move the WindowsMail.MSMessageStore file to a different folder. When you restart WinMail, it will regenerate the MessageStore.Gary VanderMolen "Paul N Temple" <Paul N Temple@discussions.microsoft.com>
