mailbox full with only 8 messages

Posted by admin on Jan 30th, 2007

Just got Windows Vista a few days ago, got set up on Windows Mail, a couple of days later I had 8 messages in my mail box and one of them read "Your mailbox is over the high water mark. Please delete some messages from your mailbox!" I delete the sent items every day along with the deleted items. (in other words, I clean out everything everyday) How can my mailbox be full with only 8 messages and how do I make it hold more mail? Thanks, Holli

"Holli" Check your WinMail settings.Tools>AccountsDouble click your email account or click "Properties" to the left. Next, you'll see the "Advanced" tab, go to it.Under "Delivery", uncheck "Leave a copy of messages on server" Michael

Is the message from your ISP (Roadrunner)? It may mean that your mailbox on the server is full. If your mail client (Win Mail or your previous program) was set to leave the mail on the server, then you are downloading your mail, but not deleting it on the server. To check in Win Mail: Tools Accounts select your mail account Properties Advanced Delivery (uncheck Leave Mail on Server box)If your previous mail program left the mail there, you may have to log on via web mail to delete them. rr.com/flash/index.cfm click on webmail "Holli"

"Holli" That message is from your mail server not Windows Mail.If you have access to your account via a web interface, check to see what mail is still in the mailbox. If not, you can get something like Magic Mail Monitor and check the mailbox. mmm3.sourceforge.netFrom either location, you can delete some of the mail to make room for new mail.As already mentioned uncheck the leave mail on server.
