Importing .pst files

Posted by admin on Nov 9th, 2006

I have been trying for a week to figure this out. I created a backup of my emails in outlook, transfered it ot my new computer with Vista and couldnt' open it in Windows mail. (no one told me Office 2007 Student didnt' come with Outlook like previous versions). So, I imported to OE06 on my old computer, created an export file, transfered it here, but it is also in a ..pst file... NOW WHAT??? I can't figure this out!! THANKS!!

Import your old Outlook messages into OE6. Then take not the pst file, but the OE dbx files and import those. See www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#4 for locating the files and to import see www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx#oe2wmsteve"Eve"

What if my old computer won't turn on so I can't do that? is there any way to take the .pst file on my new computer and make it work without buying outlook?? Thanks!"Steve Cochran" wrote:

No, there's no way to import a .PST file without Outlook. If the old computer has Outlook installed, but won't start, you'll have to get Outlook from somewhere and install it on the new PC.Hal Hal Hostetler, CPBE hhh@kvoa.com Senior Engineer/MIS MS MVP Print /Imaging WA7BGX kvoa.com "When News breaks, we fix it!" You can install an evaluation version of Outlook and then import it that way.steve"Eve"
