Save them to disk first and then open them. If you can't save them, then see www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#1steve"Quint"

"Quint" I had this problem with Vista beta RC1 and never got to the bottom of it despite posting here. If you need a workaround first go to Tools/accounts in Mail and select your email account then go to properties/advanced and check the 'leave a copy of messages on sever' box. Then use a different email client to download when you receive a message with an attachment. This way you can still download all your messages into your Mail archive and can access the attachments. (Another problem, files that would download and vanish, that I had with RC1 was replicated when I installed AVG antivirus on the released version; the problem went away when I removed AVG but I didn't investigate to see if it also affected Mail.)

"Quint" Do you have Microsoft Office or the Viewers for those programs? If you save the attachments in your Documents folder can you open them? Frank Saunders, MSMVP OE/WM fjsmjs.com Answer in newsgroup. Don't expect an answer to email.
