Flip 3D changed...why?
Posted by admin on Mar 29th, 2007
When I AltTab now I don't get the usual display but instead a rectangle in the centre of the screen containing miniature pics of the pages I have open. Time for a new video card maybe. It worked with my Vista Beta though so am puzzled. Peter Toronto, Canada XP Pro SP2 x 2 + Vista Ultimate P4 HT @ 3.00ghz, 4.0gb RAM, 700gb HDD

"Peter" What happens when you use Windowskey and Tab?

It may have turned Aero off on your desktop. You can right click the desktop and go to personalization. Then on Theme, and change it to Aero. That should bring it back. Mine was doing the same this morning after Aero stopped. Dustin Harper dharper@vistarip.com vistarip.com "Peter"

Duh...I get the stupid prize. It's the Windows key not the alt key!! Thanks. Peter Toronto, Canada XP Pro SP2 x 2 + Vista Ultimate P4 HT @ 3.00ghz, 4.0gb RAM, 700gb HDD"Robert Moir"

It was my fault...clicking Alt/Tab instead of Windows/Tab. Thx ;) Peter Toronto, Canada XP Pro SP2 x 2 + Vista Ultimate P4 HT @ 3.00ghz, 4.0gb RAM, 700gb HDD"Dustin Harper"

"Peter" Yes, alt+tab does the same thing it has done in just about all versions of Windows that I can remember, possibly even 3.1. The only thing is is that under Vista, alt+tab accomplishes that with a bit more graphic flourish.Depending on how your system is set up (I won't try to explain here) holding the Windows key and pressing the number 2 also brings up Flip 3d. However, unlike when you access it using Windows+tab, Flip 3d stays on your screen after you let up on the keys. You can scroll through the pages if your mouse has a wheel and you can pick which page you want to come up by clicking on it with the mouse pointer.

I kind of have the same problem. I'm using a notebook that came with Vista Home Premium. Flip 3D used to work fine. I changed the desktop color scheme to something else and now when I try to change back to Windows Aero it changes to Windows Vista Basic instead. When I try the suggestions of Windows button/2, I get the rectangle (doesn't go away. The Alt/Tab does. I'm sure I've changed a setting, just not sure what setting. I want flip 3D back. I am using the Windows key, not ALT. Help."Peter" wrote:

Same here. I click the icon for flip 3d and get a small box in the center of my screen with icons of the windows I have open. I did'nt change anything. Why would windows change itself? I've got a Sony Vaio with 2 gigs of ram and the latest Nvidea card, and it's a standalone card not shared with system ram. "Ray" wrote:

Well gang, I finally figured out why my flip 3D wasn't working. Evidently I downloaded and installed a program, Quicktime Player, that would only work in a lesser display setting than what Aero likes and the program was loading upon bootup. So check the taskbar icons beside the clock to see what programs are resident. Once I stopped Quicktime I was able to go into the display settings and change it to Aero. Thanks for this free exchange of information. You saved me from further bruising; as I was banging my head against the wall. Ray "Randy" wrote:
