File transfer

Just got a New Laptop was using a desktop with windows XP, got new computer and transfered files from old computer, Was this a mistake? my new computer is running very slow i havent really used it much on the internet yet will be hooking up wireless (waiting on shipment),Can i restore new computer to remove transfered files or am i missing something here?Dave
