Fax Viewer: Not found on Vista or Office 2007
Posted by admin on Jul 25th, 2006
In Windows XP and Office 2003 Viewing and Editing Faxes were much easier with the Fax Image Viewer (or something similarly named). Where in Vista and/or Office 2007 can I view faxes by each page, delete specific pages, merge faxes together, move pages around in different order and resave in TIFF format? I have tried to find this functionality with the Windows Photo Gallery, Office Picture Manager, Digital Image Suite and Paint, but have been unsuccessful. I would like an application that will specifically view and edit faxes. Where did this go???!!!!Thanks, Brian

Brian ... Windows Vista Business, Enterprise and Ultimate editions have fax and scan builtin. In Ultimate, I found it listed under Programs ... it is wfs.exe in the System32 folder. If you have one of these versions but can't find it, go in to Control Panel > Programs and Features > and then look in the left pane for Windows Features turning on or off or something like that and you should find it in there and be able to enable it if it was not enabled by default. If you have one of the Homes ... I am sorry ... don't remember if it was in my Home Premium install. I upgraded to Ultimate so fast I didn't get to look around too much.good luck ... vanilla ...Brian said:In Windows XP and Office 2003 Viewing and Editing Faxes were much easier with the Fax Image Viewer (or something similarly named). If you have a version of Vista that has the fax module AND you have Office 2007, you can use Microsoft Office Document Imaging; MODI can import fax pages (.TIF) files, combine them, edit them, reorder them, and save them back as a multipage .TIF files.Hal Hal Hostetler, CPBE hhh@kvoa.com Senior Engineer/MIS MS MVP Print /Imaging WA7BGX kvoa.com "When News breaks, we fix it!" I upgraded Windows XP Home to Vista Home and with disappoint I discovered the absence of the fax service. I use currently a thirdparty software ($40 value) to obtain anew the service in Vista Home environment. Only entrepreneurs use faxing service?"Brian FM" wrote:

....it's gone. Try Snappy Fax (www.snappyfax.com). I just downloaded it and it works better than the WinFax Pro program I was using with XP.Barry "Brian FM" <Brian FM@discussions.microsoft.com>
