deleted items

Posted by admin on Mar 6th, 2007

when using old Outlook Express and I deleted an item in my Inbox, the screen simply showed a line through the entry and did not completely delete it until I hit "Purge."Now, using windows mail, when I delete a message in my Inbox, the item completely disappears! I would like to have the line either remain on the screen with a line through it (like Outlook Express) or be transferred to a Deleted Items folder. As regards the latter, Windows mail appears to give that option, but I can't figure out how to make it work...G>

OE never had a line through messages to be deleted from the local folders. I think you must be thinking of something else. There is also no "Purge" button in OE. Maybe you were thinking Outlook.steve"Greg"

Steve, both appear in OE with an IMAP account.Hal Hal Hostetler, CPBE hhh@kvoa.com Senior Engineer/MIS MS MVPPrint/Imaging WA7BGX kvoa.com "When News breaks, we fix it!" KVOA Television, Tucson, AZ. NBC Channel 4 Still Cadillacin' www.badnewsbluesband.com"Steve Cochran"

Both the line through a deleted item and a "Purge" button are characteristics of an IMAP account. Most IMAP accounts will also work as POP3, if that's how you have the client set. Verify you have this account setup for IMAP and not POP3 service.Hal Hal Hostetler, CPBE hhh@kvoa.com Senior Engineer/MIS MS MVPPrint/Imaging WA7BGX kvoa.com "When News breaks, we fix it!"
