contacts list in Windows Mail

Posted by admin on Jun 28th, 2006

Two questions about Windows Mail: 1) How do I get my contacts list to sort by last name rather than first name? 2) How do I add a new contact? Both things were simple in Outlook Express but I can't figure them out in Mail. Thanks

In Win Mail, click on Contacts Click on Views, and change to Details rightclick on the Name heading, and check the Last Name box click on the Last Name heading to sort by last nameclick on New Contact to add a new one. "Barbara Gabioud"

In addition to the advice you were already given:If you're talking about the 'Select Recipients' dialog that is shown when you click 'To:' in a new email, click on the sort arrow that appears when you mouseover the 'Name' header. It toggles through FOUR display states:FullName ascending FullName descending Last, First ascending Last, First descendingIf you're talking about viewing the Contacts folder, the name of the contact is based on the 'Full Name' field. If you edit a contact, it's found on the 'Name & Email' tab. It has a drop list that allows you to select 'First Last', 'Last, First' or 'Last First'. You can also type any text you like as the Full Name it won't change the First and Last fields. Good Luck,Keith Microsoft MVP [Windows XP Shell/User]"Barbara Gabioud"
