Apple LaserWriter printer
Posted by admin on Dec 7th, 2006
I used an AppleLaserWriter Pro 630 laser printer on a previous Windows XP clone computer without any problem. The XP OS included printer drivers for many of the popular LaserWriter printers (long since out of production). The new Windows Vista Home Basic does not appear to provide any drivers for the LaserWriters, and the Apple and Adobe versions of drivers will not install under Vista. Do any of the upgrades to Windows Vista contain the Apple laser printer drivers? Does Microsoft have any intention of providing these sometime in the future? They would be extremely helpful because I don't want to give up the printer. Thanks for any feedback.

You can install the XP Apple drivers onto Vista if you have the XP installation CD.Use the have disk option in the Add Printer Wizard.point to the CD \i386 directory Alan Morris Windows Printing Team Search the Microsoft Knowledge Base here: support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=fh;[ln];kbhowtoThis posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights."Patrick W." <Patrick W.@discussions.microsoft.com>

I went straight to Vista from Windows ME and so don't have an XP installation disk. Is there any other way I can get the Apple Laserwriter Select drivers onto Vista? yoderjm

I called apple support and they said to check their Downloads page. I couldn't find anything there newer than Windows 98 drivers I thought it useless to try them. yoderjm
