Posted by admin on Oct 1st, 2006

P4 2.8ghz HT, 1.5gb, 160gb, Ati 9550 256mb agp 8x.I open up Advanced tools and notice below Performance issues that it displayed a warning icon with message Performance can be improved by changing visual settings. View details. I look at the details and a window pop up with a message:Adjust visual setting to improve peformanceThe current visual setting might not result in the best computer peformance. To improve perforamnce, you cay try closing some windows, turning off window transparency, lowering the computer resolution, or changing your color scheme to Window Vista Basic. it has button: Help, remove from list, okso i look at the performance details event log and saw warning icons with information about Desktop Window Manager is experiencing heavy resource contention. reason: Graphic subsystem resources are overutilized. Is Ati Radeon 9550 256mb AGP 8x not enough?Althought i don't see any performance issue on my computer at all no slow down. I also turn off the transparency and still giving me the warning in the advanced tools.

If you are happy with the way your computer is operating don't worry about it would be my advice. Your PC would run faster without all the bells and whistles as would any other PC mine says the same (without the specific warning about heavy resource contention) and I have a Geforce 8800GTX. "GT"

I thought that Vista turn off the transparency and special effect automatically when it find that the computer performance is low."SteveW" wrote:
