4gig ram and 2.8 useable?
Posted by admin on Dec 12th, 2006
I've got 4gb ram in my machine but Control Panel > System indicates 2814 mb. I realize in 32bit that I lose some address space, but this seems a little silly esp. with a 512mb video card. How do I troubleshoot this?thanks, Dave

What does your video RAM have to do with system RAM? Uh, nothing? Unless your video RAM is shared with system RAM. But you say you have a 512MB video card, so one must assume you're not using shared RAM for video. True or false?Lang"Dave Parker"

I have 512mb on the video card and of course Windows has to account for that is has to live in the allowed 4gb address space for 32 bits. Still I was expecting to get 3.5 gb rather than 2.8 gb of unusable RAM. More than 1/2gb of address space that something has grabbed I would just like to figure out what... 680i SLI motherboard with a core2 Duo Extreme x6800 and a single GeForce 7950 GS.Dave"Lang Murphy"
